Ken Bennett started Streets
back in September of 1987, with only a van, a basketball, and a vision
of what God could do in a neighborhood of inner-city Memphis. After over
15 years of commitment,
Streets Ministries now enjoys daily service to the people of the
Cleaborn and
Foote Homes community.
Streets
is a Christian ministry dedicated to serving the core needs of the
people who call the inner city of Memphis home. Streets has a 10,000
square foot outreach center strategically located in America's third
poorest zip code, 38126. Streets provides a safe haven and much more: a
place to hang out, meet a friend, and be welcomed with an unconditional
love based in Jesus Christ.
Streets
provides educational, mentoring and recreational programming as well as
outreach clubs and Bible studies for |
 |
the youth of
South Memphis. These programs aim to instill children with a sense of
confidence, empowerment and
belonging in one of Memphis' toughest neighborhoods.
Mission Statement
Streets is a ministry with the purpose of unconditionally representing
the Good News of Jesus Christ in word and deed in Memphis Housing
Developments in such a way that adolescents have the opportunity to see,
hear, and respond to the Good News of the Gospel, and to be empowered to
live a life of obedience to God. |
Volunteers
and staff from Booker T Washington High School help feed the BTW
football team before each game.
